Happy 2018! I feel like I’ve heard a lot of people lament about how 2017 was a crazy, hard year with everything going on in the world (just how they lamented 2016 was hard). I’ve got news for ya: it’s not gonna get any better. Things will still be rocky politically, and Kim Jong-Un and Donald Trump just may blow up the earth with their nuclear weapons. Who knows. The only thing to do is to buckle up, and figure out how to personally make your year great. And what a better start to that goal than to get your hair game ON POINT (transition, yo!). Once again, I teamed up with Maple Holistics, this time to try their Argan Oil Shampoo:
So you know how when you walk into a high-end hair salon, you are greeted with that clean, luxurious shampoo smell? This shampoo smells like it. That’s immediately what i thought of when I was hit with the scent. And, bonus: at only $9.99, your hair gets to smell like luxury on the cheap. But enough with the smell. After all, a shampoo can smell like cherub laughter and dew kisses, but if doesn’t do the one thing it’s supposed to do – clean your hair – it’s a waste of time and money. And I’m pleased to say this product didn’t disappoint. First of all, it’s Curly Girl-approved (read: sulfate- and silicone-free), which, if you read my last review, know I don’t put anything on my hair that’s not. In lieu of a co-wash, I used this shampoo exclusively, and it fit in beautifully with my routine. I’ve been using it exclusively for over two months, and I find it to be moisturizing, but still rinse clean. I haven’t experienced any excessive frizz or breakage, and my hair does have a bit more shine to it. Some ingredients worth mentioning:
- Argan Oil – gives hair a shiny, healthy look due to the Vitamin E, carotene, and essential fatty acids
- Peach Kernel – moisturizing and regenerative, and safe for sensitive skin
- Camellia Seed – antioxidants rejuvenate hair and scalp
- Jojoba, avocado, almond, honey, and vanilla – all-around badass moisturizers due to their vitamin content and soothing properties which gets your hair looking like that of a goddess
If you’re a try-before-you-buy type of gal (or guy!), then check out Maple Holistics’ free samples page where you can try any of their products risk-free. Simply fill out the form, and let them know which product you want to try. And if you’re feeling really adventurous in the new year and looking to shake up your beauty routine, check out this article all about dermarolling, a practice designed to boost collagen, making your skin more supple and strong. But maybe get it done by a proper dermatologist first, and then talk to him or her about doing it at home. Just sayin’. Be safe and don’t accidentally fuck up your skin.
I hope your 2018 is off to a fantastic start!
